Dear AskMeg<3, I have a job I really hate. It makes good money, but every morning, I'm tired and don't want to get up and go. It's honestly kind of hard physical labor sometimes, but I'm pretty good at it. They keep hyping me up, telling me I'm turning into a best worker, and just gave me a raise only a few months into the job. I can't help but feel like they're just doing all that so I feel bad about taking days for myself. Because when I gave my availability, they insisted I work weekend days where I'm supposed to help at another job, and also I just want time to myself. Hence why I gave the availability... How can they just reject what days I tell them I can work lollll. They take advantage sometimes and it feels like a bribe. Any thoughts? Also ur super cool and insightful :)

Sincerely,

AdultingSux

Dear Adulting Sux,

IIIIIII feel you. I hate working. I just wanna eat snacks and not do anything ever. But unfortunately, that is not the world.

I hate the feeling of stress over a job. The guilt of calling out. It literally the grossest feeling. And like, for what? YOU are paying ME to do a job. But then you ask me what MY schedule is, and then you reject it lmao, where's the logic? math ain't mathing. Why'd u even bother asking.

Anyway, my philosophy is life short, and no job is worth your well-being or happiness. Easier said than done, but it's really true.

At the end of your life, you won't care that you got fired from that random job for calling out too much. Jobs are everywhere. You'll find another one. And I'm saying that right now as I am currently unemployed LMAO. So, you know I really mean it if I'm still saying it.

Plus, they have plenty of employees, if you're at a big corporation, fuck them, they'll figure it out. If you're at a mom-and-pop shop and still hate it, literally just work somewhere else. They'll find someone who either likes it or they'll just have to keep re-hiring cause it's their own fault that their work environment sucks. That's not on you.

Money makes the world go round, but happiness is the only thing making it worth while to keep turning.

Don't sacrifice yourself for your job. Do you, boo.

Xoxo,

AskMeg<3
